It saddens me in the amount of christians and conservatives who have accepted and even wanted the Patriot Act. Giving the government such physical powers should be a concern. As well as the tendency of the government to use torture.

The use of corporal punishment and other extreme physical preventatives should be minimal and last resort, and not the norm. Does not scripture tell us:

2Cor:10:4: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds

If our weapons are not to be carnal (physical) but spiritual why should such extreme physical methods be the norm in our society and government, or in high use? This obviously is in direct connection in how unspiritual our society is.

The method we should use, should be spiritual as the verse states. This means we should be living by faith. We should be trusting in our God for our protection, not in the powers of big brother in spying on it's citizens.

Oh, some may say, why didn't faith protect us on 9/11? In fact it did protect many people on that fateful day, there are many testimonies of people who did not go to work that day or were not in the building and they should have been. But its the lifestyle of being carnal which allowed such a breach to occur.

I discuss this issue on my FAQ's page:

 Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why do bad things happen? Accidents, death... does God kill?

Eccl 10: MKJV
8 He who digs a pit shall fall into it; and whoever breaks a hedge, a snake shall bite him.

---

I go into more detail answering that question there. Which I encourage you to read. I believe its the 6th question, and about 1/3 of the way down on the page.

I once learned a valuable lesson, "Don't pluck the fruit, but destroy the root". If the fruit of terrorism is in our nation, plucking the fruit by physically using all the physical means necessary to get rid of that fruit is a fruitless endeavor, because the tree will continue to bear that fruit. The way to stop it is at it's root. Otherwise you will need a police state to constantly take care of the bad fruit, which is where this nation is headed.

I am not advocating the the loss of police and military, as I also discuss on my FAQ's page, see the question:

Q. What do you believe about military service or self defense?

I am discussing moderation and balance. If we live a society that serves God and walks in the spiritual warfare techniques, then the amount of bad fruit will be minimal, and the use of the physical restraints would be minimal. As long as mankind has the sinful nature, there will always be some need for corporal punishment.

Those who are concerned about the loss of civil liberties, may have a human concern. But in Christ it's not about our rights, cause we deserve none, we deserve death for our sins, but this is a matter of where we are putting our trust in. (although Jesus has paid for our sins, but we should deny our lives, and live His.) The 2nd foundational principle of Christ is "faith towards God" :

Foundational Principles of Christ - Part 1

Heb 5:
12: For when for the time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13: For every one that uses milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14: But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Heb 6:
1: Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2: Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Lets enumerate them:

1: repentance from dead works
2: faith toward God
3: doctrine of baptisms (plural)
4: laying on of hands
5: resurrection of the dead
6: eternal judgment

The bottom half of the above page discusses this principle. Of coarse this may seem easier to me, as I have been told I have the manifestation of faith:

1 Cor 12:
9: To another faith by the same Spirit...

Even so, faith comes only 1 way:

Rom:10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Some may declare, that sure this is all temporary and that they are going to win the nation back to Christ, and until such time, we must use these physical methods. B. False! How can we turn the nation around using physical methods when scripture says our warfare is spiritual!

Many are simply afraid for their children. Well, in whose hand would you prefer to put your children's safety in? Big Brother or God's?

It is a lack of faith to trust in torture of the muslim terrorists and the use of the Patriot Act. If this nation has fallen into sin, no police state will protect it. Look at all the great nations that have fallen.

It's too late to save America, but it's not to late to save individuals. I discuss these truths and similar topics here:
