Astrology

Some people believe that Astrology is a science. Astrology is the supposed science of how the heavenly bodies (planets, stars, the sun, the moon and such) have effect upon our personal lives. Astrology began with the thought that the earth was the center of the solar system. It also began with only 5 planets, besides Earth. Only 5 of our planets are visible by the naked eye. The planets that were known were: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were discovered with the aid of telescopes in 1781, 1846 and 1930 respectively. Surely all the horoscopes done before 1930 should have been incorrect since the astrologers before that time were missing out on the influence of at least one planet in their calculations. Even today, only some of the astrologers use the three outer planets, others don't. Why didn't the inaccuracies in early horoscopes lead astrologers to deduce the presence of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto long before astronomers discovered them? According to 'noted' astrologer, Linda Goodman, a planet doesn't have any influence until it is discovered! 

Astronomers have long known of a phenomenon called 'precession of equinoxes,' by which the axis of the Earth rotates on itself, taking about 25,000 years to complete one rotation. The assignment of certain dates to certain signs of the zodiac (e.g. Aries from March 21 to April 19) was made about 2000 years ago and remains unchanged ever since. During these 2000 years, the axis of the Earth has rotated by about 30 degrees. This means that the correspondences between the 12 signs of the zodiac and their assigned dates are not correct any longer: there is a difference of almost one complete zodiac sign. So if you were born between March 21 and April 19, you are not really an Aries, but a Pisces. Even today, only a few astrologers take `precession' into account; most of them continue to cast horoscopes and make predictions for the wrong signs!

Isa 47: NKJV
13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, And the monthly prognosticators Stand up and save you From what shall come upon you.
14 Behold, they shall be as stubble, The fire shall burn them; They shall not deliver themselves From the power of the flame...
15 Thus shall they be to you With whom you have labored... No one shall save you.

Jer 10: MKJV
2 So says the LORD, Do not learn the way of the nations, and do not be terrified at the signs of the heavens; for the nations are terrified at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain...

The Bible teaches us that we have free will, our life is not the fate written by the planets. It is a sin to try to learn future information by any means other than by God. Psychics

The word psychic comes from the Greek word "psuche". The best translation for this word is the "soul". Man is a being with 3 parts; spirit, soul, and body. 

1 Thes 5:23 ...May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

God is triune, and we are made in His image. Therefore, we have 3 parts like God. God is; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Men are now spiritually dead, separated from God, by Adam's sin. It's sort of like a DNA thing. Because we are Adam's seed, we are cursed by his disobedience. 

Man's spirit is now dead, uninspired unless they have become regenerated by being born again, accepting Jesus into their lives.

Many people seek another path. A path of inspiration from the soul, the Greek word psuche. These people are what we call psychics. They obtain supernatural information from the soul. This comes from 2 different possible sources. One is from the powers of the Tree of Knowledge; good and evil. Accessible by men from Adam's sin. The other source is demonic inspiration. 

Demons are fallen spirits. They are separated from God also. They communicate with men in their souls, God communicates through our spirit. 

Spirit:

Prov 20:27 The lamp of the LORD searches the spirit of a man;  it searches out his inmost being. 

Job 32:8 But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.

Soul:

Psalm 69:1: Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. 
2: I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 

Rev 2:24: ... and which have not known the depths of Satan... 

Psalm 124:4: Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: 
5: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. 
6: Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7: Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. 

Rev 18:2... the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 

The progression of soul to spirit:

1 Cor 15:45: And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 

Psalm 119:25: My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. 

1 Pet 1:22: Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Here's a story in the Bible about this kind of power: 

Acts 16: MKJV
16 And as we went to prayer, it happened that a certain girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by divining.
17 The same followed Paul and us and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the Most High God, who are announcing to us the way of salvation.
18 And she did this many days. But being distressed, and turning to the demonic spirit, Paul said, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her! And it came out in that hour.

There are other psychic powers as well; astral projection, levitation, ESP, telepathy, telekinesis, and so on. All these originate from the same source. If it is a psychic power, then it is from the fallen soul or demons. Demons possess souls, God lives in the spirit of  the believer. 

Romans 8:16  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Lev 20:6: And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people. 

It is a sin to seek super-natural information or power from psychic means. If you want super-natural power, talk to God. Many churches today believe in God's gifts to the church. Some churches manifest these gifts, such as a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, or prophecy. Get hooked up with God, He can meet your needs. Ghosts, Necromancy, Channeling, Praying and Talking to the Dead

Many people believe in ghosts. Even many people in the churches. But what does the Bible say about this? Here is a story from the Old Testament about this subject: 

1 Sam 28: 
3: Now Samuel was dead...And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
5: And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
6: And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7: Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her.  And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
8: And Saul disguised himself... and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
9: And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10: And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
11: Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee?  And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
12: And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me?  for thou art Saul.
13: And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou?  And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
14: And he said unto her, What form is he of?  And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle.  And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
15: And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up?  And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
16: Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

Because of this story, many people think ghosts are on the earth, or that it is ok to talk to dead people. But many have not finished looking at what the Bible says about this incident. 

There has been much debate about this story, whether it really was Samuel or not. But scripture answers this. Saul was deceived, for he had stopped following God. In verse 7 in the original language, King James Bible, and possibly other translations, it says the witch had a familiar spirit, which is a demon. We know this to be true by reading the story in the book of Acts, I quoted above for psychics. 

Saul's story continues elsewhere. Let's read: 

1 Chron 10: KJV
13: So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; 

The Darby Bible
13: ... and also for having inquired of the spirit of Python, asking counsel of it;

Young's Literal Translation
10:13 ... and also for asking at a familiar spirit -- to inquire, -- 

21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
13   ... and also for asking counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it.

That verse ends with the word "it", it was a familiar spirit, it was not Samuel the prophet, this verse tells us so, by saying what "it" is, a familiar spirit. 

So this was a demon, pretending to be Samuel. There are no ghosts wandering around. Just demons pretending to be ghosts. If a person dies, they do not stay on the earth, they either go to heaven or to hell. 

2 Cor 5:8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 

Luke 16: MKJV
22 And it happened that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. The rich one also died and was buried.
23 And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Lets finish this story in Luke to learn more why the dead don't talk to the living. 

Luke 16: MKJV
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted and you are tormented.
26 And besides all this, there is a great chasm fixed between you and us; so that they desiring to pass from here to you cannot, nor can they pass over to us from there.
27 And he said, I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house,
28 for I have five brothers, so that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.
30 And he said, No, father Abraham, but if one should go to them from the dead, they would repent.
31 And he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded, even though one rose from the dead.

Talking with dead people won't get anyone anywhere. The reason the King James Bible calls them 'Familiar Spirits' is because these demons become familiar of people. Some will even be attached to families and know the heritage of the family. These demons will pretend to be one they are "familiar" with to deceive people. 

Heb 13:2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. 

1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God... 

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. 

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 

When you read those 4 scriptures you can see that demons can visit people disguised as an angel or as a person. 

I can give an account of this happening in our modern day. The Mormon church was started by a man having a visitation by a spirit. This spirit gave him the book of Mormon. I have talked to Mormons, that man did not test the spirit to see if it was from God. It said it was from God, but that is not how you test it. 

1 John 4:1: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.

You must test the spirit by asking it, if it is a servant of Jesus Christ. But since there are false christs as well, you must define who Jesus is or have the spirit do so. Or you test it's message with the Word of God. Does it's message contradict the Bible?

There is another group that communicates with supposed dead people. The Catholic church. The Catholic church has numerous encounters with the supposed spirit of Mary. They have not tested this spirit. This spirit has born fruit that it is not of God. It preaches another gospel. This spirit teaches about purgatory and other teachings which are not from the Bible. This spirit receives prayer. 

We must understand, Mary is blessed above all women, yet she is not God. If we pray to her, God will be jealous. Remember the woman in Acts who prophesied by a spirit? We can see that these spirits are not of God, but what they say can seemingly sound like the words of God. The spirit in Acts said: "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved." That phrase could be considered a Godly proclamation, but yet it wasn't, it came from a demon. So it was, with the witch at Endor with Saul. It was a familiar spirit. Remember: 

1 John 4:1: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.

We don't need any other person or spirit to mediate for us to God. 

1 Tim 2:5: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 

Scripture is clear about the role Christ is to have as mediator. We are not to go to others to be our mediator (although we can ask a living person to go to the mediator with us in prayer). A priest, nor the blessed mother of Jesus, Mary, nor any saint in heaven can be our mediator. Doing so would take away from Christ. It would be a lack of faith in Him. Do you think anyone can do a better job of mediating than Christ? And how would a person in heaven hear our prayers without being God? How could a person in heaven hear thousands of voices at one time without being God? If it were possible, it would be blasphemous to God's power and to His holy jealousy. 

Deut 4:24: For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

1 Cor 10:22: Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

2 Cor 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 

Deut 32:21: They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities... 

Let us be pure and give to God alone our prayers and worship. 

If we put the facts together, we can deduce, that when a vision or appearance of Mary occurs (or any other dead saint), it too could be a demon in disguise. We are not given any proof that these spirits were tested. But like the Mormons we can test the end result. Many times these spirits push catholic doctrine. The Catholic church has changed the meaning of salvation by faith.

The Council of Trent explicitly condemned the biblical teaching of the imputed righteousness of Christ himself for justification: 
If any one saith, that men are just without the justice of Christ, whereby he merited for us to be justified; or that it is by that justice itself that they are formally just, let him be anathema (The Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent. Found in Philip Schaff, The Creeds of Christendom (Grand Rapids: Baker, 1910), Decree on Justification, Chapter VII, Canons X, XXXII).

The Council of Trent condemned the teaching of justification by faith alone stating: 

If anyone saith that by faith alone the impious is justified in such wise as to mean that nothing else is required to cooperate in order to obtaining the grace of Justification...let him be anathema...After this Catholic doctrine on justification which whosoever does not faithfully and firmly accept cannot be justified...(The Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent. Found in Philip Schaff, The Creeds of Christendom (Grand Rapids: Baker, 1910), Decree on Justification, Chapter XVI, Canon IX). 

Here is what the Bible says about salvation: 

Rom 3:28: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are you saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast." 

Titus 3:5 "He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy..." 

Gal 2: 16: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 
21: I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. 

Salvation is a free gift. There is no work to it. Let's remember this verse: 

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 

I believe many Catholics are saved, but spirits has been adding and changing the gospel that isn't really Mary and is not from God. Be careful of such teachings. 

Today we also have channelers. These people talk to dead spirits, or let their bodies become possessed by these supposed dead people. In reality these are demons pretending to be the dead person. There are hundreds of thousands of ghost sightings in the world, these are not dead people but demons. Necromancy is the communication with the dead. This is a lie, a deception. They communicate with demons. They allow demons to possess them. Using a Ouji board is communication with demons, stay away!
